Experiment: Boiling Water Meets Frozen Air… What Happens?

Kids Love Outdoor Science Experiments!

If you’re looking for a fun outdoor science experiment, this one is perfect for a VERY, VERY cold day! In short, you’ll be making SNOW! Be sure to follow logical safety concepts here, and if your child is not capable of handling boiling water, you can do the honors with them standing nearby.

  1. Boil a pot of water, about 2 quarts.
  2. Take the pot CAREFULLY outside (I carried it to the door).
  3. Get into an open area and toss the water high into the air.

Just be sure you don’t have your electronics nearby (watch the video and you’ll see what I mean!). Next weekend we hope it will be cold enough to crystalize bubbles!
